Most inspection buyers evaluate the scanner and skip the data contract. The lane runs in ten seconds, a few thousand images per vehicle pile up in a system somebody else built, and the hard questions land months later. Work the API questions in order

1. Request the API documentation before the demo, so integration talks start from a document rather than a promise.

2. Confirm which fields a report record exposes, including vehicle identifier, timestamp, defect location, and severity.

3. Confirm how images are delivered, whether by link or binary, and whether any link expires.

4. Confirm the authentication model and how credentials get rotated or revoked.

5. Confirm behavior at peak volume, including any request limits on a heavy intake morning.

6. Ask for sandbox credentials and push one real record end to end into your DMS, auction platform, or fleet system.

7. Confirm who does the integration work, who pays for it, and what happens when either side ships a version change.
